The July 10, 2026 patch added background running and an auto-pickup skill. Background running continues an open game while unfocused; it is separate from loot collection.
Reference: in-game descriptions; unlock availability and background behavior are not play-tested. Scavenger collects loot after all enemies in the room are defeated.
Find the upgrade, not an assumed default
Find Scavenger (拾荒者) in the skill tree. Its description:
Loot in a room is collected automatically once every enemy in that room is defeated.
The upgrade must be acquired; it does not collect continuously while enemies remain.
Do not overlook rewards before auto-loot
An October 2026 player reported missing pickups for several runs because room objects were hard to see in the dark. Not every object is established to contain loot.
Recorded example: first-stage walkthrough. Currency roles: resources.
Five different meanings of “automatic”
| Feature | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|
| Hero attacks | Officially automatic; player clicks still add damage. |
| Auto-loot | Added as a skill; Scavenger’s description requires all enemies in the room to be defeated. |
| Background running | Officially added July 10, 2026: progress continues while the open window is not in focus. |
| Offline rewards | Not established by the background-running announcement; do not count on gains after closing the game. |
| Auto-loop and skill autocast | Community requests exist, but requests are not implementation announcements. Do not assume automatic run restarts or active-skill use. |
Manual skills can still affect background runs; see combat and skills.
A short background-play check
-
Use a stage you can already clear.
-
Confirm Scavenger is acquired and observe a room’s rewards after clearing it.
-
Leave the game open, switch focus briefly, then compare progress.
-
Watch a run end to identify the next required manual action.
If the party dies, check Blight survival and active-skill needs.
If progress or pickup seems to stop
Loot remains: check for surviving enemies and whether Scavenger is acquired. If a cleared room still retains loot, report the room, upgrade state and build.
Unfocused game stops: compare your version with the July 10 patch in updates. The older complaint and developer promise preceded that addition; include your build and focus behavior in a bug report.
The run finishes but nothing restarts: background running does not establish auto-loop. Return to the game to inspect its next prompt; see Save help if it instead shows a restriction.
