Inheritance keeps a detected save; Start Fresh, an incompatible-save reset and Prestige are different operations. Read destructive warnings before confirming.
Steam or browser version?
The itch.io HTML5 version is a separate platform; Steam/browser save compatibility is not established.
The July 2026 first-stage walkthrough has an unknown build. Dated changes: updates.
What the save prompts mean
The following summarizes save-related prompts; available choices depend on the installed version.
| Prompt summary | How to read it |
|---|---|
| A save was detected: inherit it or start fresh. | The game is offering to use a detected save. The associated choices are “Inherit” and “Start Fresh.” Do not choose a fresh start if your intention is to keep that progress. |
| An incompatible save format may require old progress to be cleared. | This is a compatibility-related reset warning, not a routine Prestige description. Pause if you are not prepared to lose the old progress. |
| A resource compensation based on your old progress … will be granted. | A related update-reset message describes compensation based on the old highest cleared level. It does not state the resource amounts or a calculation formula. |
| An older save may trigger an offer of resource compensation. | This is a compensation offer. Read the displayed old progress and the offered action rather than assuming your complete old state will be restored. |
The Traditional Chinese choices are 繼承 and 從頭開始; the compensation action is 領取補償. These labels can help you recognize the same decision when switching languages.
No manual save location, migration procedure or cloud-sync guarantee is established.
A safe decision checklist
-
Distinguish inheritance, Start Fresh, a required format reset and compensation.
-
Before clearing progress, record the warning and old highest-cleared level.
-
For long-term resets within the progression loop, see Prestige, not Start Fresh.
-
If a prompt differs from expectations, stop before confirming and report its wording, platform and build.
Why is a stage or skill locked?
Full-version notices can lock a stage, hero or skill listed in the data.
The skill tree distinguishes version locks from missing currency or prerequisites; farming cannot remove a full-version restriction.
Why does Continue show only Wishlist and Main Menu?
July 2026 players reported Continue offering only Add to Wishlist and Main Menu after Boss 2, leaving upgrades unfinished. Their builds are unknown; this does not establish the current version’s endpoint.
If this appears, record the build and choices and compare updates. It does not by itself indicate save corruption.
Where to go next

- Auto-loot and background play separates an open unfocused game from offline rewards and automatic restarts.
- Prestige explains permanent progression without confusing it with a new save.
